K has arrived , has no changed a bit in the past 20 years at all :) we know each other since 10/12yrs old :) she was dressed in red as usual - at Nyugati railway station - that is a change!
We chatted the whole afternoon through then wanted to see what's in town - but most of the places are either closed or moved out to Sziget Fesztival - it was unbelievable!
Finally K repositioned her religious feelings at the Basilika - where she found herself soo small compared to God at the age of 13!! Now she is back on track... i hope...
Then checked out a few buildings, inlc the Gresham Palace where we were treated so nicely that we would go back for a guided tour through art nouveau.
And had a drink at the new Gozsdu Udvar (Gozsdu Court) ... going to be a new posh, but interesting place ;) and finally enjoyed some music at the new premise of Tűraktér in the 6th district were we had the chance to see an experimental film exhibition. "Dr. Mrs. Varsányi, mouse exterminator, 'You'll bring the bacon, I catcth the mice!'"
... and Kr arrives soon...

Being back in Budapest feels great. I realized that Nora is one of my oldest friends I am still in touch with and my memories go back to being 1o years old and having a pen friend in far away Hungary. During my first visits to Budapest the red star was taken down at all official buildings leaving a pale image of the past on the bricks - so much has changed today. First time of no pass controls at the airport. At least for us privileged EU members. Going back to the Basilica still left an uneasy feeling about our perceptions of God. Enjoyed the summer hot feeling of an proud and old Metropol and - most important - to be with Nora. A solid friendship over decades of personal and political changes. This is my vision of Europe..
